About the UDL Toolkit
This site was created to help educators implement ideas from Universal Design for Learning. We aim to do two things. First we want to focus completely on concrete strategies that can be done by just about any educator. Second, we want to organize these strategies into categories that educators already know. This way busy educators can make real change without necessarily having to spend significant amounts of time and energy learning the full UDL framework and vocabulary.
Rather than categorize our strategies into UDL-specific language like “Means of Representation,” we’ve organized our work into categories that teachers at all levels already know: Educational Materials, Teaching Methods, and Learning Assessments.
To use the Toolkit, simply click on the category you want to explore. Once in that category you can click on individual strategies to get more information or resources.
This is a work in progress.
Please know that the toolkit began as three tables with just a bunch of text. We moved the toolkit to this site so that we’d be able to have a page for each strategy. Each strategy’s page will contain information about the strategy as well as resources to help you implement the strategy. A quick look at each table will show that there are a lot of strategies to fill in information and resources for. There are really only three people at Dickinson currently working on this project and we need help. If you’d like to contribute by suggesting a new strategy or by volunteering to fill in the details/resources of a strategy page, please either fill out the form that’s in the navigation bar or email dannibaj@dickinson.edu.
